Former Real Madrid manager, Zinedine Zidane has reportedly turned down the opportunity to replace Marcelino at Marseille.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Marseille approached the Frenchman about taking over at the Stade Velodrome.
The managerial hot seat was vacant after Marcelino’s decision to step down earlier this month.
However, Zidane rejected the chance to succeed the Spaniard as he was unconvinced by Les Phocéens’ project.
Recall that Zidane has long been admired by French Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain but has continuously turned the Parisians down.
Zidane has been out of management since leaving the Santiago Bernabeu in 2021.
The former footballer enjoyed huge success with Madrid as both a player and a coach.
He led the Los Blancos to three UEFA Champions Leagues, two La Liga titles, two FIFA Club World Cups, and two UEFA Super Cups.
Zidane was named FIFA’s Best Coach two times, overseeing 174 wins in 263 games during two spells with the La Liga giants.
